How to Feel Comfortable in Front of the Camera on Your Wedding Day

Getting married in Copenhagen City Hall

For many couples, the idea of being in front of the camera for an entire day, or even for a few moments, can feel stressful. You want to look natural and enjoy your wedding without worrying about posing or feeling awkward.

The good news? You don’t need modeling experience to get stunning, authentic wedding photos!

All you need to do is BE YOURSELF.

But, if preparing makes you feel better, here are some tips to help you feel comfortable and confident in front of the lens.

1. Choose a Photographer You Trust

Your wedding photographer plays a huge role in how you feel during the shoot. Find someone whose style you love and who makes you feel at ease. Who will talk to you during taking photos and guide you through the process.

2. Have an Engagement Session

An engagement session is the perfect opportunity to get comfortable in front of the camera before the big day. It allows you to practice, understand your photographer’s direction, and get a feel for what works best for you as a couple.

3. Focus on Each Other, Not the Camera

Instead of worrying about how you look, focus on your partner. Whisper something sweet, hold hands, or simply enjoy the moment together. Genuine emotions create the most beautiful and memorable photos.

4. Keep Moving and Interacting

Stiff, static poses can feel unnatural. Instead, keep moving—walk hand in hand, share a laugh, or dance together. Small movements help capture candid, dynamic moments that truly reflect your personalities.

5. Breathe and Relax

It’s easy to tense up when you’re aware of the camera. Take deep breaths, shake out any nerves, and trust that your photographer is capturing the best version of you. The more relaxed you are, the more natural your photos will look.

6. Embrace Candid Moments

Some of the best wedding photos happen when you’re not even aware of the camera. Enjoy the day as it unfolds, and let your photographer capture those spontaneous, heartfelt moments.

7. Trust the Process

A professional photographer knows how to find the best lighting, angles, and compositions to make you look your best. Trust in their expertise and enjoy the experience instead of overthinking each shot.

8. Have Fun!

That’s what I ALWAYS say to my couples- THE MORE FUN YOU HAVE THE BETTER.

At the end of the day, your wedding is about celebrating love and happiness. Let go of any worries, have fun, and cherish the moment—you’ll look back at your photos and remember the joy, not the nerves.

Feeling comfortable in front of the camera doesn’t always come naturally, but with the right mindset and a photographer who understands you, your wedding photos will be a true reflection of your love and the emotions from the Day 💛
