How to Prepare for Your Wedding Photoshoot (A Short, Simple Guide)

Planning a wedding is already emotional, busy, and full of tiny details — your photoshoot shouldn’t add stress. This guide is designed to help you feel confident, relaxed, and genuinely present so your wedding photos reflect who you are, not who you’re trying to be.

Below are the steps I recommend to every couple I photograph.

1. Think About the Story You Want to Tell

Before you think about poses or locations, ask yourselves:

  • Do we want something elegant and minimalist?

  • Romantic and soft?

  • Playful and full of movement?

  • More documentary — simply capturing the day as it unfolds?

You don’t need a full mood board, but knowing the feeling you want helps the entire shoot flow naturally.

2. What to bring

Less clutter = cleaner, more elegant photos. If you have bags with you, we can always put them aside for photos:)

Bring essentials like:

  • Rings

  • Bouquet / boutonniere

  • Anything that is important to you and that you want captured on the photos, maybe a cat photo or a family heirloom :)

  • Touch-up items (lipstick, powder, small comb)

  • Comfortable shoes for walking between spots

  • I will have an umbrella for you if it’s raining :)

3. Get a manicure

Or at least make sure you’re confident for closeups of your hands, because they’re coming:) That applies for both bride and groom :)

4. Be Yourselves

You don’t need to pose like models. Quite the opposite!

I’ll guide you, give small directions, and create space for natural movement. The best photos usually happen in-between — when you laugh, whisper something to each other, or simply hold hands.

I just want you to use this time to be with your new spouse, and to have as much fun as possible.

You only have one job: enjoy your person.

Preparing for your wedding photoshoot isn’t about perfection. It’s about setting yourself up to feel calm, confident, and connected — so your photos feel like you.

If you’re planning a wedding in Copenhagen and want photos that are elegant, natural, and full of emotion, I’d love to capture your day! :)
